Canon? Psshaw.

Yeah, I usually develop my own inner canon for something I like. Like, for Star Trek, instead of Kirk/Carol, Chekov/Irina, et cetera, it's Kirk/Spock, Sulu/Chekov, etc. With Final Fantasy, instead of Cloud/Tifa, Zack/Aerith, Cid/Shera, etc, it's Cid/Vincent, Cloud/Zack, etc. In Sherlock Holmes, rather than Watson/Mary, it's Holmes/Watson. And so on, so forth.

And I usually get so set on my own 'canon' that I don't like any other pairings that feature the same character.

That's one of the arguments that pisses me off most about this whole thing, though, is that 'waaaah, you're disrespecting the creator and you don't REALLY like the characters if you have to change it so much waaaa!"
